BRITTANY JAMISON – HEAD TRAINER

Brittany founded Chesley Brook Stables in 2004.  Moving her way through a few farms in New Hampshire as she grew the business.  In time Chesley Brook South was opened and the operation was split in the winter with lessons staying in NH and training moving to Florida.  Then as her family grew Brittany decided that she didn’t want to travel as much anymore.  In 2020 Chesley Brook Stables relocated to Aiken SC.  In 2024 Chesley Brook Stables was officially rebranded as Brittany Jamison Dressage LLC.

Brittany has been a lifelong rider.  Starting in the western world and eventually transitioning to Eventing when she attended UNH. This then evolved to her love for dressage and she moved her focus to the sand box. Brittany began teaching in 2004.   She studied at the University of New Hampshire earning a degree in Equine Science, another in Business management and with a minor in nutrition.  In this time she also earned her teaching certificate from the UNH instructors program.

In 2015, Brittany earned her USDF Bronze Medal with her Hanoverian mare, “Wait and See” and was USEA Area One Champion with her Canadian Sport Horse, “Time Well Spent.”

In February 2018, Brittany earned her Silver Medal at Twice as Nice dressage in Newberry, FL, on Briggs, a Zweibrucker gelding owned by Elizabeth Farina, Then in 2019, the pair moved on to start and complete Brittany’s Gold medal.

Brittany credits her dressage success and education to her long-time instructor, Verne Batchelder, of River House Hanoverians, Freelance Instructor Sue Downer and Jackie Smith of Long Fellow Farm.  Starting in 2017 Brittany has had the privilege of spending winters in training with Pan American Games Silver Medalist Nora Batchelder.  Brittany has participated in clinics with Conrad Schumacher, Henk Van Bergen, Janet Briggs, and Georges Malleroni and has spent time riding in Portugal with Georges who was a student of the great Nuno Oliveira. Brittany credits her Eventing success to Jocelyn Hawe of Coyote Springs Farm and Suzie Gornal.  Each of these instructors has had a huge influence on both her teaching and riding.

In Loving Memory

We are so thankful to Verne for not only his dedication and Commitment to us at Chesley Brook but to the equine community as a whole.  He will be greatly missed.

VERNE BATCHELDER – FREELANCE CLINICIAN AND FEI TRAINER

Verne Batchelder approaches dressage instruction with an articulate, technical, yet compassionate system.  Verne transfers to his students the ability to be patient and persistent in their training with their horses. He is quick to provide his students with training exercises so they are less likely to take it personally when all does not go well. He is comfortable teaching riders of all ages and aspirations and often uses long-lining to aid in the horses’ training. He along with his wife, Jeanie, and daughter, Nora, operate River House Hanoverians, originally in NH and now based in Florida. River House has imported over 200 Hanoverians from Germany and produced twice that amount domestically from their own mares and stallions.  His student base includes a wide variety of riders from those motivated by showing to those who just enjoy the training process and choose not to show. Verne does many clinics all along the east coast, teaching everyone from beginners to grand prix competitors.
